Analytical Services Report – Kitchen and Residential Design
Introduction
Kitchen and Residential Design sent two samples to ASPEX Corporation for analysis using the
ASPEX PSEM.

Instrument and Software
The sample was analyzed using the ASPEX PSEM.
Manual image analysis was performed on two samples (Quartz Composite and Granite) submitted by customer. The customer had requested to check that the Quartz Composite is a non-porous sample opposed to the Granite sample.
Testing performed
Manual SEM – Backscatter electron detector (BSED) images were collected under variable pressure conditions (VP set point is 0.15 torr) and 20 KeV.
Overall Summary of Results
The Granite does have more cracks and rough edges in the matrix compared to the Quartz Composite. The sample was charging under High Vacuum due to it being Non-Conductive, so the images were taken using a Back Scatter detector.
